How It Started

My Story

You came here because you want to know the story behind Mitochondrior.

If you give me three minutes of your time, I’d like to share what this philosophy is really about and why it exists.

This is not a multi-corporate brand built by investors or marketing teams. It started with one individual and a very personal health journey. Autoimmune disease has become increasingly common in modern life. Eventually, it touched mine as well. That was the moment I began asking different questions.

Current science and medicine still don’t fully understand why this happens. That wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to go deeper and understand what sits underneath.

It started with learning how the body actually works. Nutrition. Food quality. Movement. Sleep. Recovery. Basic biology. I read, watched, and listened to everything I could find that might explain what was happening beneath the surface. And then, almost by accident, the Universe stepped in.

One day, YouTube suggested a long-form podcast conversation where Jack Kruse, Andrew Huberman, and Rick Rubin were part of the discussion. They weren’t talking about quick fixes or hacks. They were talking about fundamentals. The importance of UV light. How the SCN acts as the master clock. How mitochondria respond to light. POMC signaling. Melanopsin. Neuropsin. Even biophotons.

Suddenly, many ideas simply made sense. From that point on, my main focus became one thing: optimising mitochondria and protecting the circadian rhythm.

I started digging deep into light. Podcasts. Books. Studies. Research. Slowly, a clear picture formed. From the moment artificial light entered our lives, our natural circadian rhythm began to shift. Many modern diseases appear to originate from a disrupted circadian rhythm.

And what disrupts circadian rhythm the most?

Light.

Today, we live with too little sunlight during the day and almost no real darkness after sunset. We extend our days deep into the night with artificial light, screens, and LEDs. Biology never adapted to this.

That realization changed everything for me.

This is what led me down the path of developing light that respects human biology. When I began searching for lighting that truly aligned with what I had learned, I was looking for three specific things:

To completely remove blue light from evening lighting.

To minimise or eliminate flicker.

And to incorporate scientifically studied 670nm red light into everyday use.

At the time, I couldn’t find one solution that truly satisfied all three. So I started testing. Different bulbs. Different manufacturers. Different spectrums. For years. Measuring. Adjusting. Replacing. Testing again. Until eventually, I had lighting in my own home that finally felt aligned with everything I had learned.

Then something interesting started happening. People who came to my house began asking questions. Why is your light so yellow? Why does it feel so calm? What’s the story behind it?

I found myself explaining circadian rhythm. Blue light. Flicker. Mitochondria. More and more people started asking where they could get this kind of light. That’s when the website was developed. Not because I wanted to build an ecommerce brand. But because life pushed me in this direction, and I needed a place to point people who were asking the same questions I once had. A place where they could read about importance of natural light.

Understand the risks of constant blue light exposure. And access lighting that felt safer for their evenings. Over time, it became clear that many others were in the same situation. Too bright at night. Trouble falling asleep. Wanting a better lighting environment for their family.

So I made the lights available more broadly. Not as a miracle solution. Just as a better option.

Removing artificial blue light where it doesn’t belong. Removing flicker. Creating light that allows you to be awake in the evening without being overstimulated, toxic, or harsh. That’s also where the name Mitochondrior comes from.

A Mitochondrior is a warrior. Someone who will do everything possible to protect their mitochondria and respect the natural cycle of the sun and the night. Light and dark. Yin and yang. What keeps me on this path is you, the people, my fellow Mitochondriors. The messages I receive from people who sleep better. Who get fewer headaches. Who feel calmer in the evening. Who notice that their home simply feels different at night.

I’m not here to say that changing your lights will fix everything. That wouldn’t be honest. My goal is to educate people about what actually affects mitochondria and circadian rhythm, and to offer the kind of light I’ve personally been using for the past few years. Light that lets you live your evenings a little softer. A little less harsh.

Not to replace darkness. Just to stop fighting it. No artificial light will ever replace the sun. And it shouldn’t try. But if we must use light after sunset, it should respect human biology instead of overriding it.

That’s what Mitochondrior is about.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. It means you care. About your health. About your environment. About doing things with intention. If you decide to try the light for yourself, you can use the code PURPOSE for 12% off. Not as pressure.

Just as a small thank you for taking the time to understand the story behind it. Whatever you choose, I’m grateful you’re here.

We are Mitochondrior – and we have one mission:

To protect circadian rhythm and mitochondria at all costs. Blue stops here!

Blue stops here!
